2FL Test
What does the test measure?
The test measures whether you have a genetic mutation in the FUT2 gene.
What are the health implications of a FUT-2 gene mutation?
A mutation in the FUT2 gene can lead to decreased production of the enzyme responsible for the production of certain blood group antigens and fucosyllactose. This can have several consequences, including an increased risk of certain intestinal infections, disrupted intestinal flora, and possibly decreased absorption of certain nutrients. It is important to speak with a medical professional for more specific information about the potential consequences of a mutation in the FUT2 gene.
Which nutrients are less absorbed with a FUT2 gene mutation?
A mutation in the FUT2 gene can affect the absorption of certain nutrients, especially vitamin B12 and possibly iron. The reduced ability to produce fucosyllactose can lead to a disturbed intestinal flora, a reduction in the intestinal mucus layer, which in turn often worsens the absorption of these nutrients. If you have a mutation, it is advisable to take 2 fucosyllactose as a supplement. It is also advisable to have your nutritional status checked, this can be done by an orthomolecular doctor / therapist or a regular doctor or medical specialist. A deficiency of B12 in particular, but also iron, can have far-reaching negative consequences for your health.
